What Shilajit Actually Is
Shilajit is a tar-like exudate harvested from Himalayan (and other) mountain rock. It is prized in Ayurvedic tradition, and its fulvic acid content — typically 15–20% of the mass — is widely credited as the primary active. The rest is a variable mix of humins, minerals, and geological material that came along for the ride.
The Contamination Problem
Independent testing of shilajit products has repeatedly flagged lead, arsenic, and mercury at levels that triggered advisories — enough that regulators in several countries have warned on raw and poorly processed shilajit. It is a geology product: whatever was in the rock is in the resin unless someone removes it. Purification exists, but quality across the category is wildly inconsistent, and many products publish no batch testing at all.
Dose Math
To get ~300mg of fulvic acid from a 20%-fulvic shilajit you must consume 1,500mg of resin — plus everything else in it. Purified powder delivers the same fulvic payload at a fraction of the total mass, with a Certificate of Analysis instead of a mystery matrix.
Where Shilajit Still Wins
Tradition and totality. If you specifically want the full-spectrum Ayurvedic resin experience and you have a supplier with rigorous batch testing, that is a legitimate choice. Our position is narrower: if the fulvic fraction is why you are buying, buy the fulvic fraction — cold-extracted, isolated, and verified.
